Process of Making a Commissioned Necklace

A former neighbor of mine, from the time we both lived in Bushwick, sent me an idea to create a necklace from.

From top left to bottom right: concept, finished piece, constructed brass rings over a sketch of the silver backing, 18k gold castings over the silver backing before cutting and refining, Phira wearing the finished piece.

From that image I constructed rings out of brass, made silicone molds of them, and cast the rings in 18k yellow gold. The rings were then soldered onto a silver backing that I cut out.

It was such a pleasure to make this special statement piece for a friend!
